Prinova prepares three functional drinks for Frankfurt

Prinova will showcase three high-protein beverage concepts at Fi Europe. The Frankfurt demonstrations include a clear protein drink, a protein and fibre formulation, and fortified coffee. These are exhibition concepts rather than products confirmed for retail sale.

IN Brief:

  • Prinova plans to exhibit three newly developed high-protein beverage concepts at Fi Europe in Frankfurt on 17–19 November.
  • The formulations span a clear protein drink, a protein and fibre concept, and coffee containing an ingredient derived from broth.
  • No commercial production volumes, final recipes, shelf life results or launch customers have been disclosed.

Prinova will present three new high-protein beverage concepts at Fi Europe 2026 in Frankfurt as the ingredients supplier develops formulations intended for different nutritional requirements. The demonstrations, scheduled for 17–19 November, include a transparent protein drink, a protein and fibre beverage aimed at consumers using GLP-1 weight management medication, and a fortified coffee made with a broth-derived ingredient. All three remain demonstration formulations: no finished product production volumes, named manufacturing customers or validated commercial shelf lives are available.

The range forms part of Prinova’s planned ‘Your Way’ presentation at the exhibition, where the company will demonstrate the use of ingredient combinations and premix capabilities in beverage development. Its Protein, Your Way concept is described as a peach and ginger white tea drink with a clear, juice-like appearance. Nutrition, Your Way combines apple and elderflower flavours with protein and fibre, while the Joe Gains coffee concept incorporates Omnibroth powder. The varying protein sources, flavour systems and target serving formats call for different mixing, stability and filling trials before any production recipe can be finalised.

Unlike an opaque shake, a clear protein drink needs to remain transparent after its ingredients have been dispersed and the product has been processed. Undissolved protein, heat-related aggregation and sediment can compromise appearance, while astringency or grittiness can alter the intended fruit-and-tea flavour. Acidity, heat treatment and storage conditions can change solubility, making the appearance of a demonstration sample an insufficient test of suitability for a commercial filling line. Prinova has specified the peach and ginger white tea flavour of Protein, Your Way, but not its protein concentration, processing route or shelf life results. Those details will be needed when a drinks manufacturer develops a repeatable specification.

Nutrition, Your Way combines apple and elderflower flavours with protein and fibre. It is positioned towards people whose eating patterns may change while using GLP-1 medication, with an emphasis on nutritional content in smaller portions. Protein and fibre can affect thickness, mixing behaviour and sensory characteristics, so their interaction would need to be tested in the finished drink. Positioning the drink towards people using GLP-1 medication does not give it a medicinal function. Any finished product would need a substantiated nutritional declaration and claims permitted under the rules of the market in which it is sold.

Joe Gains uses Omnibroth, a broth powder that Prinova describes as a source of amino acids, collagen, gelatin, glucosamine, chondroitin and minerals. Incorporating such a base into coffee presents a distinct sensory and formulation brief from a clear fruit-flavoured protein drink. Coffee has pronounced flavour and colour, but it also brings its own process conditions and formulation constraints. Further work would need to establish the powder dosage, ease of dissolution, sediment behaviour and stability of the prepared coffee through its intended shelf life. Prinova has not published pilot plant results or the ingredient quantities needed to reproduce the sample at scale.

Alongside these three concepts, Prinova plans to offer Citrus Blast, a pre-workout drink containing L-citrulline, B vitamins, caffeine and its CITRAPEAK soluble hesperidin ingredient. The additional sample illustrates the wider range of functional beverage formulations the company intends to discuss at the event. Citrus Blast is separate from the three new protein-led concepts, and its ingredient descriptions do not establish health effects for a finished drink. Any claim used on a commercial label would require a separate assessment based on the final recipe and destination market.

Prinova is drawing on consumer research to frame the portfolio, including survey findings on interest in protein and forecasts concerning more personalised nutrition choices. These describe market interest rather than confirmed demand for the three beverages. Product manufacturers considering the formulations would still need to resolve ingredient sourcing, cost per litre, nutritional declarations, packaging compatibility and the sensory response of the target consumer. A commercial beverage line would also need consistent premix dispersion, controlled mixing times and acceptable yields across successive batches, particularly where protein and fibre concentrations affect viscosity.

Prinova combines ingredient sourcing, premix development and manufacturing services, providing possible routes for further work with customers interested in the concepts. The November samples will not in themselves establish a market launch, a confirmed buyer or commercial manufacturing capacity. A company wishing to adopt one of the drinks would need pilot batches, stability tests, a reliable process specification and packaging trials under the intended distribution conditions. Prinova will sample the drinks in Frankfurt from 17 to 19 November; any subsequent production would depend on individual customer trials and a validated recipe for the chosen filling and distribution system.
