TopGum Industries has developed a collection of functional gummy concepts targeting cognition, eye health, mental wellbeing, and other applications associated with the longevity market.
The range includes a cherry-flavoured Focus Gummy, a mango eye-care format, a saffron product, a creatine gummy, a multi-mushroom blend, and a high-dose vitamin B12 concept. Formulations can be customised for private-label customers.
TopGum Industries manufactures gummy-format dietary supplements for brands and retailers, combining formulation development with commercial production.
Each 3g Focus Gummy contains 100mg of lion’s mane mushroom extract, 75mg of Brahmi, gotu kola extract, vitamin B12, and folic acid. The red, bear-shaped product is positioned around concentration and longer-term cognitive wellness.
The formulation uses TopGum’s Gummiceuticals plant-based prebiotic-fibre matrix to produce a sweetened gummy without added sugar. The matrix must provide sufficient body, sweetness, and stability while carrying botanical ingredients that may introduce bitterness, colour, odour, and variable solids.
A mango-flavoured eye-health gummy contains 10mg of trans-lutein and 2mg of zeaxanthin isomers sourced from marigold flowers. Those carotenoids are widely used in supplements associated with macular and visual-health support.
The peach gummy supplies 40mg of saffron extract alongside fructooligosaccharide fibre from chicory root. A raspberry-flavoured Creatine Pro concept contains 1.5g of creatine monohydrate, placing a comparatively high powder load into a small confectionery-style format.
Further concepts include a blend of 10 functional mushrooms, among them cordyceps, reishi, lion’s mane, and turkey tail. A separate B12 gummy contains 1,000mcg of methylcobalamin.
Eyal Shohat, chief executive of TopGum, said: “Longevity for many is not just about extending life span but maintaining wellness and independence. Consumers are actively seeking natural ways to maintain mental fitness and stay active.”
High active loads alter the gummy process
Functional gummies must perform simultaneously as confectionery and dosage-delivery systems. Each piece needs an acceptable flavour and chew while carrying a defined quantity of active material through mixing, depositing, setting, coating, packaging, distribution, and shelf life.
Botanical extracts can introduce bitter, earthy, astringent, or medicinal notes and may vary in colour, potency, particle size, moisture, and solubility. Masking those characteristics without excessive sweetness or flavour requires a formulation designed around the specific extract blend.
Creatine creates a different set of constraints because 1.5g forms a substantial proportion of a small gummy. High powder loading can increase viscosity, encourage settling or grittiness, disrupt gel formation, and make accurate depositing more difficult.
Product acidity and available moisture may also affect creatine stability over time. A formulation that meets its declared content immediately after manufacture must retain that dose through the complete stated shelf life.
Lutein and zeaxanthin require protection from light, oxygen, heat, and incompatible processing conditions. Their delivery form and dispersion system influence whether the carotenoids remain evenly distributed and available at the declared quantity.
Uniformity must be maintained through the mixer, holding vessel, depositor, conditioning stage, and final pack. A compliant batch average can conceal variation between individual gummies when active materials settle, float, clump, or adhere to processing surfaces.
Mixing sequence, shear, temperature, holding time, depositor agitation, piece weight, and active recovery all require control. Finished-product analysis needs to confirm both dose and stability rather than relying exclusively on the quantity added to the batch.
Removing added sugar introduces further complications. Conventional sucrose and glucose syrups provide solids, sweetness, structure, water control, and well-understood processing behaviour.
Fibre matrices and alternative sweeteners can change viscosity, setting, stickiness, moisture migration, texture, and digestive tolerance. Their behaviour must be assessed across temperature changes and storage rather than at the end of production alone.
Claims need equally careful control. The inclusion of a recognised ingredient does not automatically support every cognition, stress, vision, blue-light, or longevity statement, since permissible wording depends on dose, evidence, target population, and national supplement rules.
Innova Market Insights data cited with the launch indicates that 73% of consumers regard healthy ageing as very or extremely important, while half report concerns about mental health, stress, and sleep. The category is consequently extending beyond products marketed explicitly to older consumers.
Jennifer Toomey, head of new product development at TopGum, said: “Complex botanical blends are traditionally difficult to integrate into consumer-friendly formats like gummies. This is precisely TopGum’s specialty.”
The concepts provide a development platform rather than a single fixed retail range. Customers can alter flavour, shape, colour, dose, sweetening system, and branding, although each change can affect manufacturability and require renewed stability, sensory, and compliance work.
Functional gummies continue to grow because they make supplementation familiar and convenient. Their production remains exacting: every piece must behave like confectionery on the line while meeting the tighter dosing, evidence, and shelf-life expectations attached to a supplement.
