Zeus Packaging buys KOEX in Spain

Zeus Packaging has acquired Spain-based premium supplier KOEX Packaging Solutions. The deal adds luxury retail and food packaging capability, alongside offices in Madrid, Paris, and Miami, and manufacturing in Fuzhou, China.

IN Brief:

  • Zeus Packaging has acquired KOEX to expand premium and sustainable packaging.
  • Zeus expects group revenue of €600m in 2026, with 1,500 employees.
  • KOEX adds a broader footprint across Europe, the UK, and the US.

Zeus Packaging Group has acquired KOEX Packaging Solutions, a Madrid-headquartered packaging business focused on premium and retail formats, as the group continues to expand its European platform and strengthen its offer into food, hospitality, and luxury packaging.

Zeus has described the acquisition as extending capability across design, sourcing, production, and logistics, bringing additional scale in premium presentation packs and bags used in retail and foodservice environments. KOEX operates across Europe and the United States, with offices in Paris and Miami, and manufacturing in Fuzhou, China, according to Zeus.

“The acquisition of KOEX Packaging Solutions is a strategically important step for Zeus Packaging Group. It is complementary both commercially and strategically, and it strengthens our ability to deliver end-to-end packaging solutions across Ireland, the UK, and Europe,” says Brian O’Sullivan, owner and founder of Zeus Packaging Group.

In a statement on the transaction, Zeus said group revenue is expected to reach €600m in 2026, supported by more than 1,500 employees worldwide. The company also set out how KOEX broadens its customer base across premium retail and foodservice, naming brands including Burger King, McDonald’s, Massimo Dutti, Fnac, LUSH, Harrods, Nike, and TAG Heuer.

For food and drink supply chains, the acquisition adds capacity in higher-specification printed packs and presentation formats that increasingly sit alongside compliance-driven shifts in primary and secondary packaging. The same procurement conversations that are pushing fibre-based formats and recycled content requirements in mainstream retail are also putting pressure on premium packaging to quantify material choices, reduce unnecessary components, and maintain brand finish without relying on legacy coatings or laminations that complicate recycling.

Zeus said the deal strengthens production and logistics capacity across Spain, the UK, Ireland, and wider European routes, while extending reach into North America via KOEX’s Miami presence. Zeus also namechecked its lending partners in supporting the transaction, citing AIB, ING, Rabobank, and HSBC, alongside professional advisers.

Financial terms were not disclosed by Zeus.

The group has positioned KOEX as a bolt-on that increases its premium and luxury capability while keeping an integrated, end-to-end proposition — a combination of in-house design and product engineering, global sourcing, manufacturing management, and logistics services — for packaging projects that span multiple markets and time-critical distribution.
