IN Brief:
- Gravity roller conveyors remain a mainstay for carton, tote, and case handling.
- Montech’s RB4020 and RB5025 platforms focus on configurable widths, lengths, and lane layouts.
- A planned online configurator is intended to accelerate specification and ordering.
Montech AG has expanded its conveyor portfolio with two new gravity roller conveyor platforms, the RB4020 and RB5025, positioned as configurable systems for environments where layouts, product mixes, and line balancing change frequently. The company is pitching the range as suitable for production, assembly, and logistics applications, including packing and dispatch operations that need buffering, merges, and workstation connections without adding powered conveyor complexity.
The two models separate primarily by roller size and load focus. Montech states that the RB4020 uses 20 mm idler rollers for lighter goods, while the RB5025 moves to 50 mm idlers for heavier or bulkier loads. Across the range, Montech says conveyor width, track length, and roller spacing can be defined to suit the conveyed item and plant layout, with configurations available as single-track, double-track, multi-track, and tandem variants.
Technical data published by Montech for the single-track system lists a maximum conveyor length of 3,000 mm, with conveyed-material minimum lengths of 93 mm for RB4020 and 186 mm for RB5025. The company also lists conveying width ranges of 65–80 mm for RB4020 and 85–1,000 mm for RB5025, with centre-distance options that affect roller pitch. Montech lists load capacity per roller at up to 9 kg for RB4020 and 20 kg for RB5025, with the RB4020 load figure noted as decreasing above certain conveyor lengths.
Montech’s product documentation positions the gravity conveyor as a low-maintenance option, using simple roller transport rather than driven mechanisms, and lists accessories including end stops, side guides, and substructures. Materials specified by the company include galvanised steel roller tubes with plastic and stainless-steel bearings, and frame options that include aluminium and galvanised steel components. Montech also states that substructures can be specified for adjustable or custom working heights up to 1,200 mm.
A second theme is delivery speed for configured builds. Montech says that, despite being designed-to-order, the roller conveyors can be delivered within seven working days, citing modular standardisation as the enabler. The company has also indicated that it plans to launch an online configurator from mid-2026, intended to generate individual configurations with associated CAD data and pricing.
